GW Pacific Excavation holds Nevada A12 license for excavating, grading, and trenching, Nevada A15 license for sewers, drains, and pipes, and Nevada A19 license for pipelines and conduits. We are also licensed in California. All three Nevada licenses can be verified through the Nevada State Contractors Board at nscb.state.nv.us.

Yes. GW Pacific Excavation carries general liability insurance and workers compensation. Certificates of insurance are available on request. If your project requires specific additional insured endorsements or coverage requirements, contact us to discuss.

Yes. GW Pacific Excavation holds a California contractor license covering excavation and grading work on the California side of the state line including the Lake Tahoe basin, Truckee, and surrounding Sierra Nevada communities.

Yes. Calling 811 for utility locating before excavation is required by Nevada law and is standard practice on every GW Pacific Excavation project. We contact 811 a minimum of three business days before breaking ground and follow all utility marking protocols before beginning work.

Rock is a common condition in many Northern Nevada locations, particularly in Sierra foothill areas. We assess visible rock conditions during the estimate process where possible. When rock is encountered during excavation, we notify the project owner or general contractor immediately, assess the extent, and provide a cost and schedule impact. Rock conditions may require hydraulic breakers, rock wheels, or blasting coordination — all of which affect cost and schedule.

Yes. We read and work from civil engineering and grading plans on all commercial and most residential projects. We coordinate with your civil engineer when field conditions require plan adjustments and document our work to support your project's inspection and record requirements.

Yes. We manage grading and excavation permits in Washoe County, Lyon County, Carson City, Douglas County, and other Northern Nevada jurisdictions. We also coordinate stormwater compliance documentation and erosion control requirements that apply to disturbed sites throughout our service area.

Yes. Excavation subcontracting for general contractors and developers is a core part of our business. We are experienced working within GC-managed project structures, coordinate with project schedules and other trades, and communicate proactively with project managers throughout the excavation phase.

No. GW Pacific Excavation operates as a dedicated excavation contractor. We do not perform general contracting services and do not compete for the above-grade construction work on projects where we serve as excavation subcontractor. Our role is to support your project, not compete with it.

We serve the greater Northern Nevada region including Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, Gardnerville, Fernley, Silver Springs, Incline Village, South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, and surrounding communities. We are licensed in both Nevada and California for projects on both sides of the state line.

Northern Nevada's terrain varies significantly across the service area. The Reno basin has hardpan caliche deposits, sandy desert soils, and rocky foothill areas. The Carson Valley has alluvial soils and high water table areas. The Tahoe basin has granitic bedrock, shallow soils, and strict environmental compliance requirements. Outlying desert areas east of Reno have hard, dry soils and limited infrastructure.
